MINISTER THEODORE REESE
MINISTER THEODORE REESE Biography Theodore Reese grew up in Gary, Indiana. He is number eleven of fourteen children, ten boys and four girls. His family was blessed to have two God fearing parents, Rev. Dr. Leo H. Reese, Sr., and Mrs. Thelma A. Reese. His parents owned and operated a furniture store for twenty-eight years, in addition, his father taught school for thirty years, first as a teacher and then a principal. We were blessed. Theodore grew up in a Godly atmosphere; Sunday school, bible class, boy’s scouts and singing in the choir. After high school , Theodore became a medic with the local Fire Department and began to go in the direction of the world. After re-locating to Atlanta, Georgia, he found himself in the Georgia Department of Correctional Prison, where he served a five year sentence for aggravated assault with a weapon. He went to a place he never expected to go, and sin will take you further than you want to go. After a while, Theodore came to himself . He began to see who he was in Christ Jesus. (I Peter 2:9-10) He began to study to show himself approved unto God, (II Timothy 2:15), a workman by reading from Genesis to Revelation over and over again. Theodore calls prison a university, a place of higher learning for those who by reason of use, have trained themselves to discern both good and evil in the word of righteousness. (Hebrews 5: 12-14, 12: 5-11) Many books can inform, but only the word of God can transform. God speaks through his word to those who listen with their hearts. God’s word is powerful and true. We cannot live without it. No word-no power! While incarcerated in Georgia, Theodore’s sister, Dr. Sandra Reese Leavell, his father, Rev. Dr. Leo H. Reese, his mother, Mrs. Thelma A. Reese and his grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Willis all went home to be with the Lord in the span of five years. He discovered that isolation brings revelation and adversity builds character. Ecclesiastes seventh chapter and the third verse reads, “Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better”. Hallelujah!! He knows that God can transform tragedies into triumphs, and that we gain a better appreciation for what God is trying to accomplish in us through the grief and adversity we bear.(I Corinthians 10:13). Theodore loves to sing and write lyrics. He feels that it is a gift that God has anointed him to do. His songs are full of scripture and the word of God. God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called. (I Corinthians 1: 26-31) He’s determined to have God’s best. (Matthew 6: 33) Glory to God!
